Company’s Coming!
I live where people vacation, which has both advantages and disadvantages. But one plus is that we have lots of guests, especially in the summer. Spending a day at the beach, swimming and paddle boarding, visiting local galleries and shops, hiking in the woods, riding horses, and golfing are some of our favorite things to do. At the end of the day there is nothing like gathering on the deck with some nibbles and drinks, listening to great music and just being.
Tonka LOVES the beach
I love to be surrounded by family and friends. Having a full house gives me the opportunity to do many of the things I love most like cooking, decorating, setting a pretty table, preparing a guest room. (And sometimes, just sometimes, I can convince my guests to go horseback riding with me). The best part of it all is that I get to enjoy the company of others in the comfort of my own home.
I have a cadence to preparing for my visitors. Fashioning a comfortable guest room is my top priority. Nothing says “welcome” like opening the door to a space which is pretty, comfortable, and an oasis away from home.
A comfortable bed is a must. And other than a great mattress, what makes a bed so comfy is fresh sheets! If I have time, I will iron them which may sound like time wasted but trust me, it makes a difference. After I make the bed, I mist the bed with just a mist or two of lavender linen spray.
Creamy and dreamy bedrooms are my favorite
Here are some ideas!
Leave bottled water and snacks such as nuts, crackers and chocolate.
Place fluffy towels you reserve JUST for guests on the foot of the bed. (In other words, they are never to be used to dry wet, muddy paws). Include a few dark facecloths for make-up removal.
Hang cozy terrycloth robes on cute hooks on the back of the door.
Your guests may enjoy resting with a good book so leave a few out! I am not talking “War and Peace” or “Fifty Shades of Gray”, I mean…
Place a framed photo of you with your guests. Now, that is personal.
Trial-size toothpaste, toothbrushes, makeup remover, and Q-tips tucked into a drawer will be much appreciated.
Flowers. Always. Even Just One. And put it in a cute vessel.
A notepad and pen is always handy.
Don’t forget the CHARGERS and the WIFI PASSWORD.
You will be nominated for host with the most. Bank on it.
